To be eligible to become an Associate Member and use the press you must be an experienced printmaker, or accompanied by an experienced printmaker.

 

Upon acceptance of Associate Membership an orientation session will be arranged to cover: bookings, studio use and OH&S instructions, prior to using the printing press.

                       

STUDIO EQUPMENT PROVIDED:

  • print press and blankets    

  • drying rack

  • working benches

  • water spray bottle

  • spatula for mixing ink

  • glass

  • small rollers for rolling ink

  • access to water

  • mentholated spirits for cleaning press bed acetate & glass

                      

SUGGESTED EQUIPMENT TO BE BROUGHT BY MEMBER:

  • gloves

  • tissue paper or phone books for wiping back plates

  • rags

  • veg oil for cleaning

  • spatula/cardboard for applying ink to plate

  • printing inks

  • paper

  • butchers paper

  • larger rollers for relief printing

       

IMPORTANT POINTS RE PRESS USE:

  • All metal plates must have bevelled edges to avoid cutting blankets.

  • Butchers paper to be used between paper and blanket

  • Roller to be raised and lowered evenly with press bed centered

  • Registration acetate sheet to be kept clean of ink

  • All rubbish to be removed at the end of the session.
