Dr.Julie Fragar's work is centered on the relationship between painting, biography and human ontology. She has exhibited in major museums around Australia and is currently Acting Head of Painting at Queensland College of Art.

Julie Fragar’s painting practice – an apt term, because Fragar’s is a discipline repeated with rigour and tenacity – has often been described as autobiographical. Her early work referenced personal photographs, specifically random snapshots, treated with the reverence of Gustave Courbet, melding personal history with the grand tradition of history painting.
